In 1965, the Omega Speedmaster became the only watch to pass NASA testing. Omega and Swatch have just launched a very different MoonSwatch – the Speedmaster MoonSwatch 1965. It is still based on the Speedmaster Moonwatch, but the special feature is that the chronograph sub-dial uses the “19 hours” and “65 minutes” scales for the first time, commemorating the first OMEGA chronograph to pass NASA flight certification on March 1, 1965. The counters also symbolize 1965 and the 60th anniversary of NASA’s flight certification: the 10 o’clock counter displays the number “19”, the 2 o’clock counter displays the number “65”, and the 6 o’clock counter displays the number “60”, which are clearly visible under ultraviolet light. The hands and hour markers are covered with grade A Super-LumiNova luminous coating, which is clear and easy to read even in the dark.
The replica Omega Swatch Speedmaster MoonSwatch 1965 features a mission statement printed on the caseback and the OMEGA X SWATCH logo on the dial and crown.
